Yay! You're ready to schedule and plan your engagement session!

Engagement photography sessions are a special time in a couple's journey towards marriage. These sessions are a great way to get to know your photographer before the big day and to capture beautiful images that can be shared at your wedding, on your save the dates or invitations, and cherished for a lifetime!

Location:

First and foremost, choose a location that is meaningful to you as a couple or best fits your personal aesthetics. Whether it's the place where you had your first date, a favorite park, or even your own home, picking a spot that has some personal significance will add an extra layer of depth to your photos. Communicate your location wishes with your photographer, if you're stumped on where to go, we have plenty of suggestions for any aesthetic!

Forecast:

Don't stress about the weather forecast on the day of your session. As your photographer, I will be keeping a close eye on the weather and will give you plenty of notice if I think it would be best to reschedule. We have the opportunity to control all of the factors of your engagement session to make it absolutely perfect, so I will let you know if I feel that there is a need to change dates for inclement weather!

Outfits:

Did you know you can wear more than one outfit for your engagement session? OF COURSE YOU CAN! I typically suggest one more casual and one more dressy outfit! Here are a few tips to help you choose the perfect outfits for your session:

  1. Coordinate, don't match: Instead of wearing identical outfits, try coordinating your looks for a more cohesive and stylish result. Choose complementary colors or a shared style theme to bring your outfits together.

  2. Dress for the location: Consider where your engagement session will take place and dress accordingly. If you're shooting outdoors, opt for light, breathable fabrics for a natural and romantic vibe. If you're shooting in a more formal setting, choose elegant and polished attire.

  3. Add layers and textures: Adding layers and textures to your outfits can create visual interest and depth in your photos.

  4. Don't forget the accessories: Accessories can really elevate your outfit and add a personal touch to your photos. Consider adding statement jewelry, or a hat for women and watches or a stylish pair of shoes for men!

  5. Be comfortable and confident: Above all, make sure you and your partner feel comfortable and confident in your chosen outfits. Choose clothing that fits well and makes you feel good about yourself, as this will shine through in your photos.

Posing:

I encourage all of my couples to send me any inspiration they have found for their session! I will use your inspo as well as my expertise to capture photos that appeal to you and your personal wants and needs for your session! I pose you head to toe during your shoot as well as give you fun prompts and directions to get some genuine interactions and candid images.

I hope this helps you to better plan your engagement session! The final and most important tip I have for all of my couples is to just have fun and be yourself for your shoot! This is the best opportunity for you to get to know me and for me to get a feel for how to get the best results when you are in front of the camera. I can't wait to meet you and make some magic!
